SACRAMENTO, CA, October 3, 2011—The Golden 1 Credit Union will host a free shredding event on Saturday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Golden 1 Operations Center, located at 8945 Cal Center Drive, near the intersection of Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard.
The public is invited to drive up and drop off up to five banker's boxes full of their confidential and personal documents at this event. Golden 1 has teamed up with Iron Mountain to handle the shredding, and the shredded remnants will be recycled.
Last spring, Golden 1 safely disposed of a record-setting 151,000 pounds of sensitive material for 2,850 individuals at its community shred event.
"Golden 1 is pleased to provide this free service to the community," said Donna A. Bland, President and CEO of Golden 1. "Giving people the opportunity to safely destroy their confidential materials is a worthwhile cause, because it helps to prevent identity theft and other types of fraud."
The Golden 1 Credit Union is California's leading credit union, with more than 80 branches, $7.7 billion in assets and nearly 600,000 members.
