SACRAMENTO, Calif., October 28, 2011--Golden 1 branches throughout California will be open extended hours on Saturday, November 5, to welcome bank customers who want to open accounts at The Golden 1 Credit Union on "Bank Transfer Day."
All Golden 1 branches, except those in limited access locations, will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on November 5. A list of Golden 1 branch locations is available golden1.com/locator.
Bank Transfer Day is a grass-roots campaign that was conceived in response to new bank fees. Specifically, Bank Transfer Day encourages consumers to move their accounts from big banks to other financial institutions, such as credit unions or smaller community banks.
Unlike many banks, Golden 1 continues to offer Free Checking accounts and Debit Cards with no monthly fees, in addition to many other free and low-cost services. Anyone who lives or works in 34 of California's 58 counties is eligible to join Golden 1.
"Consumers are awakening to the idea that there are better choices than big banks," says Donna A. Bland, Golden 1's President and CEO. "Golden 1 offers the quality of service that consumers deserve, the convenience they want, and the services they need."
The Golden 1 Credit Union is California's leading credit union, with more than 80 branches, $7.4 billion in assets and nearly 600,000 members.
This credit union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration.
