Sacramento, Calif., November 28, 2011—Pat Neighbors, Strategic Development Officer at The Golden 1 Credit Union, has been recognized for her contributions to the credit union industry by the California Credit Union League (CCUL).
Neighbors received the 2011 Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award during the CCUL's Annual Meeting and Conference, held in San Diego in October. The award recognizes the efforts of individuals and organizations who contribute to the success and future of Shapiro Group credit unions through the cooperative spirit of "people helping people."
"Pat Neighbors has been a small credit union supporter for many years," said Eric Bruen of Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union, who nominated her for the award. "She keenly understands the challenges small credit unions face in finding sufficient time and resources to ensure corporate compliance. Pat deserves this award not simply for what she continues to offer Shapiro credit unions, but also for all of the hope and inspiration she instills in all of us."
The awards were named after Kim Bannan, the League's former vice president of credit union development, research and information. The Golden 1 Credit Union won the award in 2008 in the organization category.
The Shapiro Group is a cooperative effort to pool the resources of the credit union community to help small credit unions operate efficiently and effectively.
The Golden 1 Credit Union is California's leading credit union, with more than 80 branches, $7.4 billion in assets and nearly 600,000 members. For more information, please visit golden1.com.
