Sacramento, Calif., October 16, 2012—Golden 1 Credit Union will host a Free Community Shred Event on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Sierra Vista Mall, off of Sierra Vista Parkway and Santa Ana Avenue in Clovis.
The public is invited to drive up and drop off up to five banker's boxes full of their confidential and personal documents at this event. Golden 1 has teamed up with Iron Mountain to handle the shredding, and the shredded remnants will be recycled.
Shredding important documents that contain personal or confidential information—such as anything that has a signature, account number, Social Security number, or medical or legal information (plus credit offers)—is an important preventive to keep private information out of the wrong hands.
"Providing shredding services is one way we can help people avoid identity theft and other types of fraud," said Donna A. Bland, President and CEO of Golden 1. "It's part of our ongoing commitment to the community."
Golden 1 Credit Union is California's leading credit union, with 83 branches, $7.9 billion in assets and more than 620,000 members.
