The credit union philosophy of “people helping people” has shaped Golden 1's initiatives and values to make a positive difference in the communities we serve. Some of our ongoing events and sponsorships include free-to-the-public shred events, blood drives, and community food drives.
Beyond that, our employees generously give back to their communities through volunteerism and donations. Employees have the opportunity to donate directly to charities like the United Way and Children’s Miracle Network, volunteer at local charitable organizations, participate in team athletic events, and sit as board and committee members.
Some organizations we support include:
Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Credit Unions for Kids—A nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. Each year these nonprofit hospitals provide the finest pediatric care to help millions of children with life-threatening diseases and injuries.
United Way—Since 1923, United Way has raised more than $400 million for the community by partnering with employers to offer their employees the opportunity to give to the nonprofit of their choice through payroll deduction. United Way also brings together nonprofit organizations and a variety of community leaders to work on projects that that get measurable, positive results on some of the tough issues facing our communities.
Golden 1 has a long history of supporting our community. As a company, we encourage each of our departments and branches to participate in a variety of events that benefit their local communities. And, through the Golden 1 G1VE program, employees are allowed to spend up to four hours of paid time to volunteer at local charities each year.
Board Members, managers, and employees represent Golden 1 as board and committee members for many community organizations.
Community Shred Events: During shred events in 2013 and 2014 that were free and open to the public, more than 600,000 pounds of confidential material were shredded.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Golden 1 was well represented at the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” with employees from various departments and branches.
Volunteering at Shriner's Hospital:Golden 1’s Med Center branch volunteered at Shriner’s Hospital for Children. They served ice cream to the kids, their visitors, and other volunteers.
Golden 1 is proud of our charitable spirit and we will continue to support charitable organizations and activities, including the following:
