At Golden 1 Credit Union, your security is our highest priority. We monitor account activity and when our fraud detection system identifies a suspicious transaction on your Golden 1 debit or credit card, we immediately attempt to contact you to confirm the validity of the transaction.
If suspicious activity is detected on your Debit or ATM card, our debit card processor will call your home and mobile number (if on file) to confirm recent activity. If there is no answer, a message will be left to call 800-624-7486, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you have opted into text message alerts, you will receive a text notification in lieu of a phone call.
Credit Card Security
If suspicious activity is detected on your credit card, our credit card processor will call your home and mobile number (if on file) to confirm recent activity. If there is no answer, a message will be left to call 866-518-0213 or 844-947-7522, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Returning our Call
When responding to Golden 1 messages for debit, ATM, or credit card-related concerns, it’s best if you return our call on the same number we left the message. Please know you will never be asked for your full card number, expiration date or CVV. You will be asked for the last 6 digits of your card number.
You will be asked verification questions to ensure your identity and card security. If any of the transactions listed are deemed fraudulent, your card will be blocked to protect your account. If your card becomes blocked, please contact our Member Service Contact Center at
1-877-GOLDEN 1 (1-877-465-3361) at your earliest convenience to order a new card and submit a claim.
How Fraud Prevention Works
Golden 1 has industry leading fraud prevention programs running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to protect your cards and accounts from fraudulent activity. These systems assign each transaction a risk score, based on the likelihood of that transaction being fraudulent. The system uses that risk score, and other factors, to determine if the transaction should be declined.
Sometimes, legitimate purchases mimic fraudulent spending, and can be declined. If you receive a decline while shopping, please contact 1-877-GOLDEN1 (1-877-465-3361) immediately. If your legitimate transaction was declined by a fraud rule, we can instantly correct it so that the next card transaction is approved.
Card activity can appear more suspicious when you travel. To avoid any disruption in service, and possible transaction declines, please let us know in advance when and where you will be traveling by clicking here, email, or call 1-877-GOLDEN1 (1-877-465-3361). We will update our fraud prevention programs to include your travel plans, thereby greatly reducing the possibility of declined transactions.
