September 4, 2025, Sacramento, CA
Two-year initiative empowers youth through education, career development, and entrepreneurship
Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its two-year Community Grant Program. Nonprofit organizations based in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys that focus on advancing educational attainment, career pathways, and entrepreneurship for youth and young adults are encouraged to apply. Golden 1 will award up to $1.5 million in total grants over the next two years.
"Golden 1 Credit Union is committed to being a responsive and inclusive partner, supporting the unique needs of the diverse communities we serve," said Erica Taylor, Senior Vice President of Community Impact and Public Relations Officer. "Through our Community Grant Program, we are helping expand access to education, career opportunities, and entrepreneurship, empowering underserved youth and young adults to build brighter financial futures."
Golden 1's biannual Community Grant Program is designed to support youth through academic success, career development, and meaningful employment opportunities. Eligible nonprofit organizations may apply for funding between $10,000 and $50,000 per year, with the option to renew for a second year. The program is grounded in research showing that early investments in education and career development lead to stronger financial outcomes in adulthood. In addition to promoting long-term community well-being, it also provides nonprofits with the financial stability needed to sustain and expand their impact.
"We are proud to support organizations that help young people discover their potential and pursue their goals," added Taylor. "Our program reflects Golden 1's commitment to creating lasting impact through education and career development."
Golden 1 has awarded more than $6 million in funding to nonprofits in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys since launching the program in 2013. The current application period is open through September 30, 2025, and awardees will be notified in December 2025. Grant guidelines and application materials are available at golden1.com/communitygrants.
