At Golden 1, we’re committed to serving California’s financial needs with expert support and innovative financial products. In addition to that commitment, there are two other things we take very seriously: community support and basketball. The Golden 1 Charity Shootout brings those passions together in a high energy and high impact way. Through this event, we’re able to give local nonprofits the chance to win up to $10,000 during select Sacramento Kings home games at Golden 1 Center.
The first Charity Shootout debuted during the 2016–17 Kings season and quickly became both a fan favorite and one of our proudest community traditions. At each event, a local nonprofit steps onto the court for a timed series of basketball shots that turns every made basket into meaningful support for their mission.
Every basket made earns money for the organization as players attempt four consecutive shots: a layup for $1,000, a free throw for $3,000, a three-point shot for $6,000, and a half-court shot for $10,000, giving them the potential to earn up to $10,000. It’s a simple, fun event with big impact. On January 18, 2026, that impact was centered entirely on the Florin Square Community Development Corporation (FSCDC).
Spotlight on the FSCDC
Founded in 2020, the Florin Square Community Development Corporation has become a strong and supportive presence for communities of color across Sacramento and throughout Northern and Central California. Their mission is guided by the BEACH pillars, a fitting name for an organization focused on helping communities catch the next wave of opportunity.
The BEACH pillars include:
- Business and Economic Development
- Education
- Arts and Culture
- Community Development
- Health and Wellness
Together, these pillars shape their work as they uplift and celebrate the people they serve.
Grounded in dignity, integrity, and unity, these pillars shape FSCDC’s vision for a stronger, more connected regional community where access to education, growth opportunities, and essential services is available to those who need them most.
Meet the Shooter: Blake Robison
Representing FSCDC on the court was high school student Blake Robison, who brought both determination and gratitude to the Golden 1 Center floor.
Before taking his first shot, Blake admitted he was feeling the pressure but also expressed gratitude for the privilege of the moment.
With the crowd behind him, Blake stepped up and delivered. While the half court shot didn’t fall, he still secured a meaningful contribution for the organization.
After the shootout, he reflected on the experience with maturity well beyond his years:
“I didn’t make the shot I wanted but I got close and I’m blessed to have had the opportunity!” – Blake Robison
His mother, Tamica, shared how powerful this moment was for her son, not just as an athlete, but as a young man building a future full of possibility:
“This opportunity gives him his first steps onto an NBA court. Seeing players on the bench who are only five or six years older than he is… it makes that dream feel reachable. He eats, breathes, and sleeps basketball. He wakes up at 4 a.m. to shoot, because he’s committed to a thousand makes a day. He’s really dedicated, so this was a new and incredible opportunity for him. I’m very grateful they asked him to do it.” – Tamica, Blake’s mother
What was won and what comes next
To the sound of a roaring crowd, Blake helped the FSCDC earn $3,000. And the FSCDC has big plans for these winnings. They intend to put the funds toward their ambitious goal of transforming their current facility into California’s largest small business incubator.
Planned features include:
- Computer lab
- Podcast and media center
- Community mail room
- Multipurpose room
- Shared workspace for emerging entrepreneurs
- Satellite offices for organizations such as SBA, SBDC, BBB, and local Chambers of Commerce
This hub will serve as a launchpad for economic empowerment, creative expression, and long term community development.
