If you’re a Golden 1 member, you can sign up for your free* subscription on Golden 1's Greenlight sign up page. If you’re new to Golden 1 and/or a current Greenlight customer, you’ll find instructions on signing up for your free* account there, too.

You'll need this information:

• Your email address
• Your mobile phone number
• Your child’s/children’s name(s) and date(s) of birth
• Your legal first and last name
• Your physical address
• Your date of birth
• Your Social Security number (SSN)
• A valid Golden 1 debit card or bank account to fund your Greenlight account

This plan includes debit cards and logins for up to 5 kids.

Your money is safe: Funds are kept in Greenlight Accounts, issued by Community Federal Savings Bank, and are FDIC-insured up to $250,000.  Greenlight Accounts also come with fraud protection through Mastercard’s Zero Liability Protection Policy. 

Your kids' transactions are safe: Parents can block unsafe spending categories, receive real-time transaction notifications, turn cards off at any time, and set flexible ATM and spend controls.

Your Greenlight cards should arrive within 7-10 business days with free standard shipping. Track your card’s shipping status right from your app.

In your Greenlight app, navigate to your settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right of your Dashboard

1. Tap "Account”
2. Tap “Funding”
3. Tap “Funding sources”
4. Once on this page, select "Add funding source"

From this point, you can choose one of the following options:

"Add a bank instantly" – this uses Plaid, an online system that facilitates instant account verification, balance checks, and secure money transfers without sharing your login credentials directly

"Add a bank manually" – you will need your Golden 1 checking account number and our routing number, 321175261

Existing Greenlight account holders can take advantage of a Greenlight Select Plan at no cost. Simply complete the following steps.

For current Greenlight account holders where the funding source is not currently a Golden 1 checking account:

1. Access your existing Greenlight account.
2. Change the funding source to a Golden 1 checking account.
3. Contact Greenlight Support at 1-888-483-2645.
4. Ask Greenlight Support to add your Greenlight account to the Golden 1 Credit Union program

For current Greenlight account holders where the funding source is currently a Golden 1 checking account:

1. Access your existing Greenlight account and confirm funding source is a Golden 1 checking account.
2. Contact Greenlight Support at 1-888-483-2645.
3. Ask Greenlight Support to add your Greenlight account to the Golden 1 Credit Union program.

Log in to the Greenlight app and initiate a transfer from your Greenlight Wallet to your Golden 1 checking account. Transfers typically arrive in 1 to 3 business days.

Steps

• On a mobile device, jump straight to the Greenlight Wallet through the Greenlight app or the Greenlight Wallet link.
• Select the transfer option to return funds to the funding source.
• Confirm the Golden 1 funding source and transfer amount.
• Submit the transfer request.

Your Greenlight account can be closed within the Greenlight app. Once closed, your family’s app and debit card access ends immediately, and remaining balances are refunded within 5 to 7 business days.

Steps

• Open the Greenlight app.
• Tap the Settings gear in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
• Tap “Account.”
• Scroll down and tap “Close account.”

Important notes

• After closure, your family’s app and debit card access ends immediately.
• You may keep or safely destroy Greenlight debit cards.
• Remaining balances are refunded within 5 to 7 business days. To receive the funds quicker, you can initiate a transfer back to your Golden 1 checking account prior to initiating the closure. Transfers will typically arrive within 1-3 business days.

No. Parents and kids use the same Greenlight app, but each have a different experience by entering their unique login credentials. Parents are directed into a parent experience that allows them to manage money, controls, and settings, while the kids experience allows them to manage spending within the boundaries set by their parent or guardian.

No. The Greenlight debit card is not connected to your child’s personal bank account. It is connected to the parent or guardian’s Greenlight account, which is funded from a Golden 1 checking account. This setup allows the parent or guardian to control how much money the child can use, when it is available, and where it can be spent.
