Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) announced today it received two national awards recognizing its commitment to its employees and strong company culture. For the third consecutive year, Golden 1 has been named one of Forbes’ Best-in-State Employers in California. This is the third year Forbes has released this list, which ranks America’s best employers by state and includes all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.

Companies were selected based on an independent survey from a sample of more than 80,000 employees working for organizations with at least 500 employees in the U.S. Golden 1 is the only credit union based in California to make the list the past two years and is one of three credit unions included nationwide this year.

“It is a great honor to be named as one of America’s best employers by Forbes for the third year in a row,” said Donna Bland, President and CEO. “Since day one, Golden 1 has been committed to our employees, making every effort to go above and beyond to support the overall health and well-being of our team. This has proven to be especially important over the past 18 months as the pandemic, racial injustice, political division, and natural disasters have taken a toll on all of us.”

Forbes worked with the marketing research company Statista to conduct anonymous surveys on a rolling basis from October 2020 to June 2021. The final list ranks the 1,330 employers that ranked the highest.

Additionally, Golden 1 has been named to American Banker’s list of Best Credit Unions to Work For in 2021. These rankings evaluate how credit unions place employees’ needs first, and Golden 1 ranked high for programs including free membership to the Headspace meditation app, work anniversary and retirement gifts, and 100% long-term disability insurance for all employees.

“Golden 1 has always believed that investing in our employees is key to our success. We know fulfilled employees help foster happy members,” said Heather Andrade-Neumann, Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are humbled by both of these awards and grateful for all of our employees who continue to make Golden 1 a great place to work.”
