Sacramento launch reflects Golden 1’s commitment to accessible financial education

SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 23, 2026 – Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) today announced it will launch a multi-location expansion of its Financial Resource Centers at select existing branches throughout Northern and Central California this year, bringing free, on-site financial workshops and coaching to communities it serves. These enhanced locations build on Golden 1’s full suite of financial services and reflect the Credit Union’s commitment to empowering communities across California.

“Golden 1 is dedicated to meeting members where they are by expanding access to financial guidance and support,” said Donna Bland, president and CEO of Golden 1. “We continue to see growing demand for free financial coaching and practical financial education, underscoring the need for trusted resources within the communities we serve. Our Branch and Financial Resource Centers create welcoming spaces where individuals and families can build confidence, strengthen their financial wellbeing, and feel supported at every stage of their financial journey.”

Since 1933, Golden 1 has expanded its footprint and member-centered banking services with the purpose of creating a more equitable and financially inclusive California. Today, the Credit Union operates 70 Branch, Financial Resource Center, and Home Loan Center locations statewide, serving more than 1.1 million members. This growth supports Golden 1’s efforts to meet evolving member needs.

“At Golden 1, everything we do is rooted in our commitment to improving the financial wellbeing of Californians today and for generations to come,” said John Fischer, senior executive vice president and chief growth officer for Golden 1. “Our expanded Branch and Financial Resource Centers represent the next step in our mission. By combining community insights with hands-on financial support, each location is designed to give members the tools and guidance they need to build long-term financial stability.”

Golden 1’s Branch and Financial Resource Centers are welcoming spaces designed to provide free financial education and individualized support. Members can:

  • Join workshops led by certified branch leadership and platform employees dedicated to supporting members’ financial needs
  • Receive free one-on-one coaching with a dedicated financial coach
  • Learn practical skills such as budgeting, credit building, debt management, homeownership, and more

Golden 1 opened its first Branch and Financial Resource Center model in January 2024 in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights, an under-resourced community where the Credit Union has made long-term investments. A second branch location in the Central Valley community of Madera was expanded to offer Branch and Financial Resource Center services in September 2025. Both locations have become trusted hubs for financial education and community support, laying the groundwork for Golden 1’s expanded footprint in 2026.

Golden 1’s Consumnes Branch in Sacramento became the first location to introduce new Financial Resource Center services in 2026, marking the start of this year’s multi-location expansion. Additional locations across California will launch throughout the year. Branches selected for this expansion were identified based on community needs, demographic indicators, and their capacity to incorporate dedicated education and coaching spaces. Golden 1 will announce future Branch and Financial Resource Center openings as plans are finalized.

Golden 1’s Consumnes Branch and Financial Resource Center, located at 8241 Bruceville Road Suite D-100, Sacramento, CA, 95823, officially launched on Saturday, March 21. The location is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Community members in the Sacramento area interested in attending a workshop can schedule an appointment online. One-on-one sessions are also available to book online. For more information on Golden 1’s Branch and Financial Resource Centers, visit https://www.golden1.com/financial-resource-center.
