The choice is yours.

Courtesy Pay for Everyday Transactions

In 2010, a federal regulation went into effect requiring Golden 1 to have your consent to charge an overdraft fee on your everyday debit card transactions. This means that if you do not opt in to overdraft protection for your everyday debit card transactions, we will generally decline the transaction if you do not have a sufficient available balance in your account at the time of the transaction.

The choice is yours...
If you prefer not to have this service, do nothing. However, if you had previously opted in, but changed your mind, you may revoke your consent online by clicking here.  (Please note that if you revoke your previous opt-in consent, any charges previously assessed during the opt-in period will still be charged.)

Still not sure if this new coverage is right for you?
For more information on Regulation E please see the "Highlights of Final Rules Regarding Overdraft Services" document on the Federal Reserve website.  Note: Click here for information on Courtesy Pay.  If you have additional questions please review our Disclosure of Account Information.

Opting in is EASY!
You can choose any option below to submit your Opt-In submission.

Before accepting your consent to opt in to our service entitled Courtesy Pay for Everyday Debit Card Transactions, we wish to redeliver to you our disclosure entitled "What You Should Know About Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees." You can receive a copy of it in person at one of our branches, we can mail it to you, or you can consent to receive it electronically by submitting the online opt-in form.

What You Need to Know about Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees

An overdraft occurs when the available balance in your checking account is insufficient to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:

  1. We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
  2. We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as a link to a savings account or line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. To learn more, ask us about these plans.

This notice explains our standard overdraft practices.

What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:

  • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  • Automatic bill payments

We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following type of transactions unless you ask us to (see below):

  • Everyday debit card transactions

We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.

If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft; your transaction will be declined.

What fees will I be charged if Golden 1 Credit Union pays my overdraft?
Under our standard overdraft practices:

  • We will charge you a fee of $29.50 each time we pay an overdraft.
  • There is a maximum of six (6) overdraft fees per day we can charge you for overdrawing your account.
  • Courtesy Pay fees will be waived on transactions that use $5.00 or less of Courtesy Pay per transaction.

To authorize Golden 1 to pay overdrafts on your Everyday Debit Card transactions and agree to accept electronic delivery of the disclosure entitled "What You Should Know About Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees", complete and submit the form and click the "Opt In" button.

If you choose to opt-in manually, print, fill out, sign, and send back the form to us.
