SEND AND RECEIVE MONEY WITH ZELLE®

We discontinued Popmoney^® as our personal payment solution and will offer Zelle^® as of June 6, 2023, to improve our digital offerings. Zelle^® lets you send, request, and receive money directly from and to your bank account.

Zelle^® is a fast and easy way to send, request, and receive money with friends, family, and others you trust, even if they bank somewhere different than you.¹ All you need is your recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile number and money will be sent directly from your account to theirs in minutes.¹ No account numbers are shared.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

Zelle^® is a great way to send money to family, friends, and people you are familiar with such as your personal trainer, babysitter, or neighbor.¹ Zelle^® is available in the mobile banking apps of more than 1,900 financial institutions.

Zelle^® works between U.S.-based financial institutions. Even if you bank somewhere different than your friends and family do,¹ you can still use Zelle^® to send and receive money straight from your banking app.

Since money is sent directly from your Golden 1 account to another person’s bank account in minutes,¹ Zelle^® should only be used to send money to friends, family, and others you trust.

If you don’t know the person or aren’t sure you will get what you paid for (for example, items bought from an online bidding or sales site), you should not use Zelle^®. These transactions are potentially high risk, just like sending cash to a person you don’t know.

Neither Golden 1 nor Zelle^® offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle^® – for example, if you do not receive the item you paid for or the item is not as described or as you expected.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

• To get started, take these steps to complete your quick one-time enrollment. Open our Mobile Banking app, tap “Transfer and Pay,” then “Send Money with Zelle^®”; or log in to Golden 1 Online Banking and click “Send Money with Zelle^®.” Follow the prompts to complete your enrollment.
• To send money with Zelle^®, simply add a trusted recipient's email address or U.S. mobile phone number, enter the amount you'd like to send and an optional note, review, then hit "Send." In most cases, the money is available to your recipient in minutes.¹
• To request money using Zelle^®, choose "Request," select the person from whom you'd like to request money, enter the amount you'd like to request, include an optional note, review, and hit "Request." If the person you are requesting money from is not yet enrolled with Zelle^®, you must use their email address to request money. If the person has enrolled their U.S. mobile number, then you can send the request using their mobile phone number.
• To receive money, just share the email address or U.S. mobile phone number you used to enroll with Zelle^® with friends and family and ask them to send you money with Zelle^®.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

If you have already enrolled with Zelle^®, you don’t need to take any further action. The money will be sent directly into your Golden 1 account.
If you have not yet enrolled with Zelle^®, follow these steps:

1. Click on the link provided in the payment notification you received via email or text message.
2. Select Golden 1 Credit Union.
3. Follow the instructions provided on the page to enroll and receive your payment. During the enrollment process, you will be informed that there is a pending payment and the email address or U.S. mobile number where the payment was sent to. Pay attention to the email address or phone number where you received the payment notification - you should enroll with Zelle^® using that email address or phone number to ensure you receive your money.

Getting started with Zelle^® is easy and already available in your Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking portal. Log in and follow a few simple steps to enroll with Zelle^®.

As of March 31, 2025, all users must be enrolled through one of the more than 2,200 banks and credit unions that offer Zelle^® in order to send and receive money. You can find a full list of participating banks and credit unions live with Zelle^® at Zellepay.com. If their bank or credit union is not listed, we recommend you use another payment method at this time.

When you enroll with Zelle^® through your Golden 1 Mobile Banking app or Golden 1 Online Banking, the following information is shared with Zelle^®:

• Your name
• The name of your financial institution
• The email address or U.S. mobile number you enrolled

No sensitive account details are shared – those stay here at Golden 1.

When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile number, Zelle® looks up the email address or U.S. mobile number in its "directory" and notifies Golden 1 of the incoming payment. Golden 1 then directs the payment into your bank account, all while keeping your sensitive account details private.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

To use Zelle^®, the sender and recipient’s bank or credit union accounts must be based in the U.S.

If the person you sent money to has already enrolled with Zelle^®, the money is sent directly to their bank account in minutes and cannot be canceled. This is why it's important to only send money to people you know and trust, and always make sure you've used the correct email address or U.S. mobile number when sending money.

You can cancel a payment that has been scheduled but not yet processed. The option to cancel a payment will appear when applicable. Go to your activity page, choose the payment you want to cancel, and then select "Cancel this Payment."

If the person you sent money to has already enrolled with Zelle^®, the money is sent instantly to their bank account and cannot be canceled. This is why it's important to only send money to friends and family whom you trust, and always ensure you've used the correct email address or U.S. mobile number when sending money. If you sent money to the wrong person, we recommend you contact the recipient and request the money be returned or call our Member Service Contact Center at 1-877-465-3361 for assistance.

You can stop a payment in two scenarios:

1. If the payment has been sent, but the recipient has not yet enrolled with Zelle^®, you can stop the transaction. However, if the recipient doesn’t enroll with Zelle^® within 14 days, the payment will automatically expire, the funds will be returned to your account and no fees will be assessed.
2. Transactions sent using standard speeds may be stopped if the funds haven't been received by the recipient. The "Stop Payment" option will be available only when applicable.

To stop a payment, follow these steps:

1. Go to your activity page.
2. Choose the payment you want to stop.
3. Select "Stop Payment."

Please note that stopping a payment in process may incur a Stop Payment fee. Please see the Golden 1 fee schedule for more information.

Money sent with Zelle^® is typically available to an enrolled recipient within minutes.

If you send money to someone who isn't enrolled with Zelle^®, they will receive a notification prompting them to enroll. After they enroll with Zelle^®, the money will be available in their account.

If your payment shows pending, we recommend confirming that the person you sent money to has enrolled with Zelle^® and that you entered the correct email address or U.S. mobile phone number.

If you're waiting to receive money, you should check to see if you've received a payment notification via email or text message. If you haven't received a payment notification, we recommend following up with the sender to confirm they entered the correct email address or U.S. mobile phone number.

If you don't know the person, you should not use Zelle^® for these types of transactions.

These transactions are higher risk (just like sending cash to a person you don't know is high risk). Neither Golden 1 nor Zelle^® offers a protection program for any authorized payments made with Zelle^® – for example, if you do not receive the item you paid for or the item is not as described or as you expected.

Your email address or U.S. mobile phone number may already be enrolled with Zelle^® at another bank or credit union. Call our Member Service Contact Center at 1-877-465-3361 for assistance.

To change your Zelle^® enrollment to your Golden 1 account, log in to the Mobile Banking app or Online Banking and navigate to “Send Money with Zelle^®". As you continue the enrollment process, you will be notified that your email address or U.S. mobile number is already enrolled with Zelle^® and asked if you would like to transfer the Zelle^® enrollment to your Golden 1 account. If you select yes, your enrollment with your other bank (or if using the app, your credit or debit card), will be removed and you will be enrolled to use Zelle^® with Golden 1.

Alternatively, you can enroll a different email address or U.S. mobile number in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app or Online Banking.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

You can easily check your current Zelle limit by following these steps:

• Log into your mobile banking app or online banking.
• Click 'Send Money' with Zelle.
• Choose an existing recipient or add a new recipient to access the payment screen.
• Below the dollar amount, click” Limits” to view your transfer limits. 

There is no limit to how much money you can receive using Zelle^®. However, remember that the person sending you money will most likely have limits set by their own financial institution on the amount of money they can send you.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

Popmoney^® payments scheduled to be made on or after June 6, 2023, will not be sent. If you wish to continue a scheduled or recurring payment, you will need to re-establish it in Zelle^®.

1. Log in to Golden 1 Online Banking.
2. Click Send Money with Zelle^®.
3. Follow the prompts and add or confirm your email address or U.S. mobile phone number.

Mobile Banking

1. Log in to Golden 1 Mobile Banking.
2. Go to Transfer and Pay.
3. Tap Send Money with Zelle^®.
4. Follow the prompts and add or confirm your email address or U.S. mobile phone number.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

At Golden 1, any member at least 18 years of age in good standing with a checking account will be eligible to use Zelle^®.

There are typically no fees to use Zelle^® in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking. However, other fees may be assessed based on usage. For example, when using Zelle^® on a mobile device, your mobile carrier’s message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile provider. Other fees such as, but not limited to, Golden 1 Courtesy Pay, Stop Payment, or Overdraft Protection fees may apply if enrolled in those or using other available programs. Payments cannot be canceled once received by the recipient.

It may be possible to cancel a scheduled or future-dated payment if it has not been received yet by a recipient.

• If the payment has not yet debited your account, you can cancel from within the Zelle portal in your Golden 1 app.
• If the payment has already debited your account, but not yet been received by the recipient, it may be possible to cancel the payment. Call 1-877-GOLDEN 1 (1-877-465-3361) for assistance.
• Canceling a Zelle^® payment may incur a stop payment fee. Please see the Golden 1 fee schedule for more information.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

A joint accountholder can send money with Zelle^® by logging into the Golden 1 Mobile app or Online Banking, selecting "Send Money with Zelle^®," and entering the U.S. mobile number or email address of the recipient. Please note, only one set of credentials is issued per account.

Zelle^® will be available in the Golden 1 Mobile Banking app and Online Banking as of June 6, 2023.

Additional contact details, like a joint member's phone number and email, can be added to the primary member's Zelle^® profile. Any money sent to that U.S. mobile number or email will be received by the primary account.

When you send money with Zelle^®, the default setting is “Send Today (one time).” You can set up a scheduled payment or a recurring series of payments by clicking “Change” and selecting the date(s) and frequency of the payment.

The first steps are the same as making a one-time payment.

1. Open Zelle^® in your Golden 1 Mobile Banking app or Online Banking and select “Send.”
2. Choose (or add) a trusted recipient's email address or U.S. mobile phone number.
3. Enter the amount you'd like to send.
   • Below the payment amount you will see “Send Today (one time)” and “Change.”
4. Click “Change.”
5. Choose the payment date on the calendar.
6. If you need a recurring payment, change the Frequency from “One time payment” to your chosen schedule, such as every month, every two weeks, etc.
7. You can also set the duration, which will send a recurring payment for the length of time that you choose, or a total number of payments to be made.
8. Read through the “Review and Send” section and if everything is ready, click “Send.”
